Our Story

A Story Of Hope

Calvary Hope Ministries, now known as Calvary Hope Baptist Church, began on the 6th of December 2009 in a classroom in Delft Cape Cape Town.

Its pastor, pastor Oscar Peter Bougardt, is a fully licensed pastor, and is a registered marriage officer with the South African department of Home Affairs.

Pastor Bougardt is married to Mrs Lande Bougardt and have three children Olivia, Nicole and Ethan.

Calvary Hope Baptist Church started with 8 people and has since grown to roughly 350 members. However about 90% of our membership are unemployed and the church is situated in one of the poorest areas in Cape Town.

The reason why we started off as a ministry is because of our involvement in poor communities through feeding projects, taking care of those with disabilities and elderly.

We are a Soul Winning Church which means that we take the last command of Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20) very seriously.

A Perfect Building For Us

The truth is that we need something permanent with the capacity to serve those around us. Fortunately we have found the right place – a run down hall ona large piece of land right in the heart of Delf.

The land is valued at ZAR 550 000.00 and has a run down building on it that can seat 300 people with the possibility of extending it. The land and building is perfect for us because of its location, size, potential to extend and the price – which is a bargain.

The current ownder is a 76 year olf retired pasror who wants to sell the land and building since his congregation has moved to another suburb.
